Quick Start - CentOS / Red Hat Linux / Fedora

[Note: 32-bit RPM packages for opsdash-smart-agent v1.5 are not currently available. 32-bit tarballs are available as described below. Please contact us at support@rapidloop.com if you need the RPMs.]

To get started, install the OpsDash Smart Agent in any of the following ways:

Install the agent from the RapidLoop YUM repo (recommended)

1) Add the RapidLoop yum repo:

sudo tee /etc/yum.repos.d/rapidloop.repo <<EOF
[rapidloop]
name=RapidLoop Public YUM Repository
baseurl=https://packages.rapidloop.com/centos
gpgkey=https://packages.rapidloop.com/gpg-pubkey-rapidloop.asc  
EOF

2) Import the RapidLoop signing key:

wget https://packages.rapidloop.com/gpg-pubkey-rapidloop.asc

sudo rpm --import gpg-pubkey-rapidloop.asc

3) Install the agent

sudo yum install opsdash-smart-agent

4) Go to  https://app.opsdash.com/account and copy your API key.

5) Edit the agent configuration and put in the API key:

sudo vim /etc/opsdash/agent.cfg

6) Start the agent:

sudo service opsdash-agent start

7) Go to  https://app.opsdash.com/sources to see your server has appeared there. The agent's log file is at /var/log/opsdash/agent.log in case you need to troubleshoot.

Install the agent from a package

1) Download the appropriate OpsDash smart agent  .rpm package for your platform:

# for 64-bit Intel
wget https://packages.rapidloop.com/downloads/opsdash-smart-agent-1.5-1.x86_64.rpm

# for 32-bit Intel
wget https://packages.rapidloop.com/downloads/opsdash-smart-agent-1.3-1.i686.rpm

2) Install the package

# replace x86_64 with i686 if required
sudo rpm -ihv opsdash-smart-agent-1.5-1.x86_64.rpm

3) Go to  https://app.opsdash.com/account and copy your API key.

4) Edit the agent configuration and put in the API key:

sudo vim /etc/opsdash/agent.cfg

5) Start the agent:

sudo service opsdash-agent start

6) Go to  https://app.opsdash.com/sources to see your server has appeared there. The agent's log file is at /var/log/opsdash/agent.log in case you need to troubleshoot.


Install the agent from a tarball

1) Download the appropriate OpsDash smart agent  .tar.gz tarball for your platform:

# for 64-bit Intel<br>wget https://packages.rapidloop.com/downloads/opsdash-smart-agent-1.5.amd64.tar.gz

# for 32-bit Intel
wget https://packages.rapidloop.com/downloads/opsdash-smart-agent-1.3.i386.tar.gz

# for armv7
wget https://packages.rapidloop.com/downloads/opsdash-smart-agent-1.5.armhf.tar.gz

2) Unpack the tarball

# replace amd64 with i386 or armhf if required
tar xvf opsdash-smart-agent-1.5.amd64.tar.gz

3) Go to  https://app.opsdash.com/account and copy your API key.

4) Edit the agent configuration and put in the API key:

vim opsdash-smart-agent-1.5-amd64/etc/opsdash/agent.cfg

5) Start the agent (runs in the foreground):

cd opsdash-smart-agent-1.5-amd64  usr/sbin/opsdash-agent -f

6) Go to  https://app.opsdash.com/sources to see your server has appeared there. The agent's log file is at opsdash-smart-agent-1.5-amd64/var/log/opsdash/agent.log in case you need to troubleshoot.
