Quick Start - Debian / Ubuntu

To get started, install the OpsDash Smart Agent in any of the following ways:

Install the agent from the RapidLoop APT repo (recommended)

1) Add the RapidLoop APT repo:

echo "deb http://packages.rapidloop.com/debian stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/rapidloop.list

2) Import the RapidLoop signing key:

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 1E1BACF5

If this step fails (the keyserver is down, for example), then you can also do it this way:

wget https://packages.rapidloop.com/gpg-pubkey-rapidloop.asc
sudo apt-key add gpg-pubkey-rapidloop.asc

3) Fetch the RapidLoop package information:

sudo apt-get update

4) Install the agent

sudo apt-get install opsdash-smart-agent

5) Go to  https://app.opsdash.com/account and copy your API key.

6) Edit the agent configuration and put in the API key:

sudo vim /etc/opsdash/agent.cfg

7) Start the agent:

sudo service opsdash-agent start

8) Go to https://app.opsdash.com/sources to see your server has appeared there. The agent's log file is at /var/log/opsdash/agent.log in case you need to troubleshoot.
